This year my husband Raymond and I were thrilled when our oldest daughter Jessica Langelaan carried the torch in Oakville, Ontario. It was a bittersweet moment in time as my father Keith Acton whom we were very close to passed away on December 18th, 2009 and Jessica carried the torch on December 19th, 2009. Recently Marrissa Mctasney of Moxie Trades came to our shop. We talked a little about our business here and Marissa actually shot a video. To see the video....go to www.moxietrades.com. This past summer we were asked if we could do some work for the YWCA in Oshawa. We refinished 12 small meeting tables free of charge. These tables will be used in the Heritage Rooms at the Adelaide House which is located at 33 McGrigor Street in Oshawa.

On Saturday July 12th, 2008, Raymond and Jill did a caning display at the Newcastle's One of a kind Artist and Artisan Show and Sale. It was a beautiful day and they got to speak to lots of different people.

On June 28th, 29th, 30th and July 1st we had a booth at the Cobourg Waterfront Festival where we handed out flyers and did caning demonstrations for all the days of the festival. The weather started out terrible with torrential downpours but as the days progressed the weather got better and better.

At the end of March, was the "Pickering Home & Garden Show". I did 3 presentation on "Turning Trash to Treasures". It was a fun weekend and we met lots of people.

Two new things are happening right now for us at Gentle Hands Restoration. I am being featured on a TV show called" Be Your Own Designer" for Rogers Television Durham, a half-hour live format that features guests to inspire the viewers to either try decorating themselves or enlist the help of the guest. This show will take place on Thursday, March 20th @ 7:30 p.m..

In November of 2007 I was asked to do presentations on turning "Trash to Treasures" at the Fall Cottage Life Show at the International Centre in Mississauga. It was a really great weekend and I met lots of interesting people. I hope that in the end I was able to help some people turn their "trash to treasures".
